Island Time

And we're back. Actually we've been back since Friday but getting back to the real world took a couple of days so I'm just now getting back in to the swing of things.

Y'all, we had an absolutely amazing vacation. We didn't do anything over the top but it was really fabulous. Though we've certainly anticipated other vacations more (hello, Disney!), I can say with authority that we've never NEEDED one more than this one. Sooo grateful!

We rolled into Port Isabel early in the afternoon on Friday, August 5. We, or course, snapped a pic of the historic lighthouse before heading over the Queen Isabella Memorial Causeway...

These folks were taking a photo we never got around to...

After getting the keys to our condo, we headed up and walked straight onto the balcony where we found this view...

It was beautiful! We quickly donned our swimsuits and played in the surf (which boasted perfect waves) for several hours before heading up to get dressed for dinner. We ate at Louie's Backyard that evening and saw a stunning sunset while enjoying grilled shrimp (me and Tonto) and fettuccine alfredo (the girl).

After dinner, we headed across the street to a gift shop to get some necessities, mainly goggles and a boogie board. Back to the car we went where we hopped in the back and watched a spectacular fireworks show over the bay. These were the biggest fireworks I've ever seen and the finale was so over the top that the girl declared, "I may be blind now" after viewing it. :-)

After a late night trip to Wal-Mart to stock the fridge, we headed back to the condo and fell into a very deep sleep. The next day had a really complicated schedule. It went something like this: play on beach, eat, nap, play on beach, eat, watch TV, take a nighttime walk on the beach.

I didn't move from this spot much throughout the day...

...and the girl played her heart out, y'all.

We made some new friends...

...and wondered if we would have a repeat of last year's jellyfish adventure after seeing the purple flag waving in the breeze. Thankfully, we did not. :-)

As you can tell, I spent a lot more time soaking in the moments than photographing them and my Type A personality is regretting that a bit at this moment. However, we had a lot of special moments playing in the waves together, feeding seagulls (shhh...), searching for shells and just relaxing. It was perfection...and there was a lot more in store :-)
