Hello, Big Apple!

Yes, I fell off the map again but it was definitely for a good reason. I attended a conference last week in New York and my people were able to tag along. We left a day early so we could spend some time sightseeing and had a blast.

After dropping our bags off at the hotel, we headed to find food and introduced Tay to New York style pizza. As it turns out, she prefers Domino's but at least she can say she was able to try it, right? After she talked Tonto into buying her ice cream, we strolled through Battery Park for a bit...

As you can see, it was beautiful. This was an area Tonto and I did not explore when we were there last year so it was new to all of us. And we, of course, represented Baylor. You wouldn't expect anything different, would you?

We made a quick jaunt through the city where we saw the famous bull. There was a long line to take a photo with him so we just decided to go with a profile pic :-)

We soon found ourselves at Trinity Church, which we did see last time but only from the outside, and decided to get a look at the inside as the outside was being renovated.

It was absolutely stunning. To be honest, the photos don't do the beauty justice because it was super dark inside. Trust me, though, it was amazing.

Our final stop before heading back to the hotel was the New York Stock Exchange...

...which is just across the street from Federal Hall National Memorial...

These are also places we didn't visit last time but not for lack of trying, friends. We didn't have a map and never stumbled upon this part of town...

After getting back to the hotel where our room was now ready (and had views of the Hudson River and Jersey to one side with World Trade Center construction out the other), we all hit the hay for a phenomenal nap. Because we left the house at 3:30am, we were definitely due. It apparently rained while we were sleeping so it was really cool when we woke up.

After a quick dinner at Burger King, we settled in for a quiet evening because Thursday was designated for sightseeing. :-)
