Out with the Old...

Most people who know us realize very quickly that we are "animal people." It could be the fact that we refer to our dogs as the Puppy Posse, the lengths we go to in order to spoil them or the deep and very real grief we experienced continue to experience over the loss of our beloved Bo.

Whether others understand our attachment to them or not, we consider these babies to be part of our family. Because of this, the charity to which I choose to devote my time - Fuzzy Friends Rescue - is one dedicated to the rescue of animals and seeks to find forever homes where they can be spoiled and loved for the remainder of their lives.

I have had the privilege of working on their Christmas newsletter for the past three years and they have graciously allowed us to join their New Year's Eve party - Barkin' Ball - for the past several years as well. Not only is it a really fun and yummy way to spend the evening but it's turned into an annual opportunity to get a photo with the man. :-)

Each year has a theme and this time was a throwback to the '80s. It was so much fun, y'all. I loved the bright colors and some folks even dressed the part. I both admired their bravery and was taken back to a different time...

It was truly a night to remember and, to be quite frank, was the most enjoyable one we've attended. Not because of the event itself but because this was the first of its kind post-knee surgery for Dave. The first two years he was in so much pain (because it's always freezing on December 31, right?) that he really couldn't have much fun. That was a HUGE 2010 blessing right there ...

The food was, as usual, absolutely amazing and I honestly had to pull the man away from the ribs at one point. Yes, dear, I realize they are protein but enough is enough! :-)

Ok, so in all honesty, we actually got two photos but Dave's hand was over the flash in one. I'm holding onto it, though, because I kind of look like I'm glowing and think maybe I could use that at some point down the road...

These photos I'm showing you not because I'm vain but because they represent another amazing blessing I received in 2010 as I lost 40 pounds! It's been a long and time-consuming journey (mainly because I refuse to just "diet" and am, instead, intent on making lifestyle changes that can be easily maintained) but it's one I'm praying sends the right message to my child and one I'm also pretty proud of...

For comparison's sake, here are the pics taken on New Year's Eve 2008....clearly the man's been doing some major working out as well!

And here's 2009...

All that to say that He is good. He is faithful and, with His help, anything is possible. :-)

Happy Friday, friends! May you have an amazing weekend.
