A Six Flags Adventure

One could say the members of our little fam have sort of become amusement park junkies. It sort of comes with the territory when one member is an ex-bullrider, I think. He's got to get that adrenaline rush somewhere, right? And, generally, amusement parks aren't quite as dangerous as bulls.

I say generally because there was a summer when my parents and I ended up visiting the medical aid station at each park we visited. One of them happened to be Fiesta Texas, which is where we spent a day during our pilgrimage to San Antonio. I am happy to say that we did not return to the scene during this visit but there was some excitement along the way.
The girl was super excited - this is when we were waiting for Dave to get back from the hotel because he'd forgotten his debit card. We planned to eat that day so it was a necessity that he retrieve said card.
She informed me in no uncertain terms that she would not be riding the Boomerang coaster. She apparently doesn't to backwards. She decided to take a picture in front of it, though, for posterity's sake.
She also modeled an adorable hat...she is a hat girl, you know!
Asked this lady very politely to "put your skirt down, lady."

No, I am not kidding.
Still waiting for the Davester to arrive...
Once he got back we purchased our Flashpass, which was awesome because you don't have to wait in line. We were planning to conquer this park in one day because Bo was having some issues back home with Uncle Danny so we couldn't take the park up on their offer to have us back the next day for only $10, which was a bummer.

Tay and I had ridden the Road Runner Express while Dave was gone, which was awesome. We reserved Scream without realizing what it was...once she saw it, Tay decided to remain on the ground while Dave and I soared through the air. It was great and Dave screamed like a girl :-)
Ready to hit Poltergeist...
...which looked like this. This sucker went from 0 to 60 in no time and didn't slow down a bit. It was over before you knew it but was really a thrill. Even the girl loved it.
After this ride, Dave's numerous previous concussions kicked in. We had shaken his brain a little too hard with back to back rides so we stopped in for a drink. Tay asked if we could sit for a minute. My guess is she wanted to take in this show....
...but, you know, she's a 'tween now so it couldn't be readily admitted.

Then I made the gang pose for another pic...
...before we got our first sprinkling of the day on Bugs White Water Rapids.
He was guarding his castle :-)
Then we headed toward the Gully Washer where a nice Six Flags photographer took our picture.
The man and the girl with some distant family members...
The Scooby Doo ride was one of our favorites because it was interactive. Sort of like a video game on wheels. There were some rides similar to this one at Disney World and Dave kicked our tail at all of them. This one was no exception...
Notice how my hair is already wilted up above? Well, the ride through the rapids of the Gully Washer didn't do anything nice to it. We got SOAKED and my husband turned around and started laughing hysterically before indicating my resemblance to a drowned rat. He is still alive. Thankyouverymuch.

At this point there was nothing left to do but head to the water park. :-)

Unfortunately, we rode the Rattler right before heading to the water area and Dave's poor head could handle no more. He couldn't even walk in a straight line but, after a Papa John's pizza he felt a bit better, so we hit a tubing ride. Where he promptly cracked his head on the slide. Needless to say, the man's feet didn't leave the ground again.

Somewhere in here Tay and I rode the Road Runner Express again because it was so much fun and then something frightening happened...I looked in the mirror...

After recovering from the sight, I realized a hat was indeed going to be my souvenir. Do we look worn out or what?
We did convince Dave to do the whole Scooby Doo thing with us again and he survived. Tay and I road Tony Hawk's Big Spin, which was AMAZING and then another water ride. What did I have to lose at this point, right?

Tay wouldn't ride Superman with me so I braved it alone and it was probably the single best rollercoaster experience of my life. Well, right behind Rock'n Roller Coaster at Hollywood Studios. But, still, A THRILL A MINUTE!

Then Tay tried her hang at slinging darts and, because the kid has an uncanny knack for carnival games...
....we added another family member that day...
We had some dinner and then hit the wall, my friends. Dave brain was scrambled and Tay and I were just exhausted because when you have the Flashpass all you do is walk, ride, walk, ride, etc.

EXHAUSTING! But also exhilarating!
The only major coasters we didn't ride were the Boomerang and Goliath. I would have ridden this one in a heartbeat but the girl doesn't do hanging coasters and I didn't want to split from the fam again...maybe next time...
She wanted some air conditioning, hence the running after Davey :-)
And so concludes our trip to Fiesta Texas. We had a blast and made memories that we're sure to treasure a lifetime. We jumped in the pool after arriving back at the hotel but only lasted about 20 minutes because we were so tired.

The next morning we headed out early and were home by noon even with the man taking the backwoods, scenic route. At one point, he informed me that he was going this way so I could see the town of Pidcoke.

"You've always wanted to see Pidcoke so I'm taking you," he said.

My response? "Wrong wife, Tonto."

And that's our family - quirky, amusing and sometimes just downright odd. But we go together like peas and carrots and I wouldn't have it any other way. I heart them. Big time.

Thank you, Lord, for giving us the opportunity to make memories of this type. Because of where we've been and what you've rescued us from, I don't take a minute of it for granted.
Oh, how I pray we never will.
