First and Last

Funny, isn't it, how we become creatures of habit?

Case in point...

The top photos were taken on the last day of fourth grade. Those on the bottom were the first day of fourth grade. Clearly both my daughter and I are definitely creatures of habit. She fixes her hair the same and drapes her schoolbag over her body the same way while I can't seem to find any additional locations to take photos.

Side note: please notice the plant in the background of the picture on the top right. Yes, it's true - I've managed to keep a plant alive through the second week of June!!!!

There are a few things I hope will never become "habit" for our little fam again, though...

Like dropping my child off at Parents Night Out - or anywhere for that matter - and assuming she'll be safe and sound until it's time for me to pick her up again.

I also don't want to ever take my family for granted again. Any of them.

Most importantly, though, I never want our attending church, hanging out with our church family and having Him in our lives to simply become habit. You see, we've tried it on our own and let's just say that didn't work out very well.

Not. At. All.

As we begin what will be a very busy and exciting summer, what I don't want to forget is how far we've come. These days I'm overcome with gratefulness for what God has done in our lives in the last year. There are many things about which I'm still unsure but this I know: regardless of what comes our way, He's already on the other side of it. And He's victorious.

And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.
Romans 8:28
